Helloooo...
don't mind the cobwebs, I've just been shirking my blog duties. I've not been posting Facebook updates very regularly either, and even those have been one-off song quotes, not real updates.
Yeah- three kids, upcoming meeting, headcolds, dental appointments, annual parent-teacher conferences. You know the drill.
But it's time for the annual post in which I give thanks, some of it sincere and some with tongue firmly planted in cheek...
- I am thankful that my job is imperative enough that the functions cannot be eliminated altogether, but not high level enough for the organization to save a significant amount of money by parcelling the duties onto others. Not they'd likely find others to do what I do, since it's kind of thankless.
- I'm thankful for teachers that say "How can we help Hoss work through this issue..." instead of "What are you doing to address this issue..."
- I'm thankful for dental insurance, since a new crown costs over $700, and I don't even want to think of what the possible root canal costs
- I'm thankful that the printer had a light enough queue that my book was done this morning, so I have a chance to see what it being delivered to my attendees before they see it. It may not be 100% correct, but at least I'll be able to prepare myself for any complaints before they roll in.
- I'm thankful for hand-print turkeys on construction paper, and for the occasional flat note coming from Princess' clarinet while she practices for the Christmas concert.
- I'm thankful that the HR department announced the early closing yesterday instead of keeping us all in suspense all morning today, allowing me to actually plan my afternoon.
- I'm thankful for hot coffee, cold beer, and the people with whom I share either or both.
Happy Thanksgiving. Enjoy some toast, popcorn, pretzel sticks and jellybeans. Don't let the lawn chair attack you as you set up the table in the backyard.
