Can you see the real me?
A number of years ago, when I was working for OldBoss, a member of the marketing department came to one of our staff meetings and was soliciting participation for some photo shoots, office shots and lab ones. He was looking for two more subjects, one male and one female, for some promotional material. OldBoss quickly nominated one of the multitude of men sitting around the conference table to serve as one of the models. The marketing guy then looked at us all and asked, slightly exasperatedly, "Can any of you think of any women in your division who are camera friendly that I can approach for this shoot?"
I continue to joke about how said marketing guy told me that I was ugly all those years ago.
Today a woman from the marketing department, an employee of the guy who needed 'camera friendly' women back during my staff meeting that day, approached my cubicle. She asked if I would mind participating in a photo shoot tomorrow that is taking place in one of the office on my hallway. Her only request was that I wear a solid color jacket, and my requirement would be to sit at a desk for some simulated office-type scenes. So, maybe their standards of attractiveness have changed.
On a tangentially related topic, Sweetney has started a trend of bloggers letting the interweb see their unvarnished, unretouched selves. Tune in tomorrow (or sometime in the near future, depending on when I get my act together to post) for before and after shots. I'll go for a shot when I wake up, and another when my make-up and hair are in place for the photo shoot. And I'll try not to scare anyone with the disparity between the two.
